DACHAUER FLOHMARKT - HALL OF FAME
A former military site at Dachauerstrasse with warehouses which got converted into flea markets and party halls.
In the winter of 1984-85, Blash sprayed one night there and was surprised by the Austrian artist Gerhard Drach, who had his studio on the site. Enthusiastic about Blash's work, he supported Blash and soon after also Loomit. Drach introduced the two young artists to the flea market tenants, the Spitzbarth brothers, who then legally authorised the walls to be sprayed.
The flea market grounds turned quickly into Europe's largest Hall of Fame in the years 1985-89. Some of the most important players from Munich and the international graffiti scene were allowed to spray for the first time legally. The halls got demolished in 1989.
"One wall was 250 metres long, we sprayed our telephone numbers under the works and received several calls from potential customers during the week."(Loomit)

Sci-fi such as the 1979 film Alien, as well as the DC and Marvel comic book boom of the 1970s and 1980s, inspired graffiti artists to implement this genre into their work. This was particularly evident at the Hall of Fame.
